This new offices complex is part of a renovation of the ex Sieroterapico, located near the Naviglio Pavese, a building that in the past it hosted one of the largest centres of medical research.
This important heritage for the city of Milan was the subject of a project by the architect Dante O. Benini. He focused attention on the themes of energy efficiency and sustainability, which are the guidelines for historic site restoration.
Three buildings, each with 5 storeys, host offices. They are like steel and glass bubbles connected to one another by a treelined walkway.
SIO was responsible for value engineering, final structural design and the construction phases coordination of all steel and concrete structures. In detail, the project developed by SIO has optimized the original proposal (which included a number of pendular frames and steel trusses), exploiting the collaboration of steel structures with concrete decks to create more rigid but at the same time lightweight structures.
