Parallelo Office Building

With its markedly horizontal development, the building designed by architect Mario Cucinella stands in sharp contrast to the other completely new interventions that are taking place in the city of Milan. The complex, consisting of a single body raised 13 metres off the ground with 3 floors, present a V plan with a total length of about 200 metres and it has a surface of 14,000 square metres, intended for productive and directional functions.

The load bearing system consists of seven tower elements in reinforced concrete, to which is anchored the 3D steel truss, formed by square-shaped sections with dimensions of 300x300 mm, from which are suspends the floors. The above are formed by a composite section with perforated steel beams, having a span length of 16.5 m and a height of between 650 and 800 mm, and concrete deck slab.

SIO developed the check of the original structural design, the study of the connections (initially designed to be bolted but now welded on-site), the comfort design for the steel beams which support decks, as well as the design and check of the construction phases with the analysis of the interaction between the structure and for

the positioning of the glass façade.
